Metal beds, spring cores & co - That's why metal is safe in the bedroom

For some time now, there has been a rumor that metal in the bedroom is harmful to health. This discussion was mainly initiated by building biologists and bed sellers who believe that metal alters electromagnetic fields and that humans could suffer health consequences as a result. The dangers include, among others, metal bed frames, spring mattresses, and even screws.
In our latest therapy blanket model, the Premium (formerly Balance) weighted blanket, the weight comes from small stainless steel beads inside the blanket. It is therefore time to openly address and clarify this topic.
No scientific evidence available
Even though some people are convinced of the dangers, there is actually not a single study that proves this assumption. The information is therefore based purely on speculation. Mostly, wooden furniture manufacturers advertise the disadvantages of metal and, of course, the advantages of wood – which cannot be disputed. Nevertheless, it is questionable whether metal should be fundamentally classified as bad and used as a cause for sleep and health problems.
There are numerous factors that can contribute to health and sleep quality that should not be overlooked. Scientifically, at least, it makes no difference whether metal is banned from the bedroom or not.
Where are metals acceptable and where not?
Even if we choose a metal-free bedroom and buy a wooden bed and a natural mattress – what happens to electronic devices like cell phones, charging cables, door handles, or mirrors? Metallic objects are part of our everyday life even outside the bedroom; for example, we prepare food in stainless steel pots and eat it with stainless steel cutlery.
We should absolutely give our head and mind a break from the so-called “electrosmog” regularly, yet devices and metals themselves are indispensable. It is therefore questionable whether a metal-free “zone” during sleep is decisive and especially feasible after a 16-hour metal-containing day.
Why is the Premium (formerly Balance) Therapy blanket filled with stainless steel beads?
In developing our third weighted blanket model, we focused on innovation and addressed and improved some weaknesses. The focus was on a Therapy blanket that applies pressure pointwise, slips as little as possible, and withstands nighttime movements. This was achieved through a patented design in which the weight is fixed inside the blanket.
Glass beads are too small and have too low a density to provide the necessary weight for fixation. Therefore, we chose stainless steel beads that are large enough to stick and have an ideal density to achieve the weight of the blanket. Stainless steel is very durable, rust-free, completely safe for health, and odorless. The adhesive used is water-based, non-toxic, and therefore harmless.
Our conclusion
As the manufacturer of Therapy blankets, we take health aspects very seriously. The development of the Premium (formerly Balance) model was accompanied by intensive research and numerous tests. We are convinced of the result and believe that our Premium weighted blanket with stainless steel ensures the right balance and better sleep.
