- How do weighted blankets work?
By placing a weighted Blanket, deep pressure is created that gives the brain the feeling of a loving hug. The Blankets are adapted to body weight and promote the release of the happiness hormone serotonin and the sleep hormone melatonin through the weight. At the same time, the cortisol level (so-called stress hormone) in the body is reduced. One feels safe, more relaxed, and falling asleep and staying asleep is facilitated, as well as anxiety reduced.

- How do therapy blankets help?
Weighted blankets are very versatile and can be used for various medical conditions. In addition to sleep disorders and stress, illnesses such as ADHD, anxiety disorders, or dementia can also be positively influenced by the effect of the blanket. The weight promotes switching off and relaxing the body and mind after stressful and restless days. Persistent anxiety and panic can be better controlled and reduced.
- How effective are weighted blankets?
There are currently few studies that scientifically prove the effectiveness of weighted blankets. This is partly due to the challenge of being able to measure a person's well-being in tests. A study from 2015 dealt with the effectiveness of weighted blankets in people with psychiatric disorders. 91% of the participating adults stated that they felt more relaxed with the weighted blanket. However, weighted blankets are very often recommended by both therapists and patients and customers due to positive experiences.

- Which therapy blanket is the right one for me?
Our therapy blankets come in different weight classes and sizes. The weight of the blanket should be approximately 10% of your own body weight. If you fall between two weight classes, we recommend choosing the next heavier one. If the blanket feels too light or too heavy during the trial sleep, you can exchange it free of charge for a different weight, size, or model. - How heavy should a therapy blanket for children be?
The safety of children also takes priority with therapy Blankets. Please ensure that we recommend the Blankets at the earliest for children from one year old. The weight of the blanket should not exceed 10% of the child's own body weight. It is best to try the recommended weighted blanket for your child and observe how your child reacts to it: If you notice any discomfort, switch to a lighter blanket. It is not uncommon for this process to require a bit of trial and error.
- For whom are weighted blankets not suitable?
The use of a therapy blanket is basically safe and harmless. However, we advise against a therapy blanket if you suffer from respiratory disorders such as asthma or sleep apnea or have problems with the heart and blood pressure. Diabetes patients should also consult their doctor before using the blanket. There is the option to choose a lighter weighted blanket or to place the blanket only on a part of the body to avoid causing symptoms.
- Are the costs of a therapy blanket covered by health insurance?
So far, weighted blankets have not been included in the list of remedies by most health insurance companies, so subsidies are generally not guaranteed. Nevertheless, it is worth submitting an application, as costs can also be covered outside the standard case. Ideally, you should attach a letter of recommendation and/or a prescription from a doctor, alternative practitioner, or therapist to the application. We are happy to provide a cost estimate upon request.
- How do I put on my therapy blanket most easily?
Putting on weighted blankets can be a challenge if you don't know how. The cover of the Balance therapy blanket can be removed and changed relatively easily via the zippers on the insert. The cover of the Gravity therapy blanket is attached to the insert via loops. We have illustrated in a video how to put on the Gravity blanket most quickly.
