Most suffered from anxiety disorders at 17 percent and mood disorders at 14 percent. About 5 percent of the analyzed people had problems with insomnia. The causes remain unclear to scientists. Preventing and treating consequential damage also requires further research.

Doctors often assume that the symptoms after Covid-19 illness are related to an autoimmune reaction, as is common after infections with other viruses. However, these usually occur in predictable patterns, which is not the case with Covid-19.
