Anna Beck's experience with therapy blankets

“I also recommend them to parents, not only as a relaxation educator but especially as a mom.”
How did you come across the therapy blanket concept?
I have known therapy blankets for years; in fact, I have been using one myself for about 3 years. Back then, I slept very restlessly and came across the concept of Gravity blankets. I was convinced by the argument that they are partly used in hospitals for patients with sleep disorders, depression, and anxiety.
How do you personally experience using a weighted blanket?
I love it, I can't imagine it without anymore! I'm such a fan that my daughter also got one last year. Especially for children, a positive effect has been proven. The blanket feels like a loving hug, and that signals a sense of security to the body. It calms, we sleep more peacefully, more deeply, and wake up much more relaxed. Our sleep quality has noticeably improved. I also feel that we fall asleep faster.
In which medical fields do you think the use of therapy blankets is useful?
Personally, I find the blankets invaluable, especially for children who suffer from anxiety, are a bit more active, or have sleep problems. Of course, also for adults. It's similar to swaddling newborns. It's a feeling of security and safety, which makes you calmer, reduces stress, and helps the body and mind relax more and faster. So clearly in the area of holistic relaxation.
